So I had to laugh a little as I was posting this. Not long ago I was reading a post on my sister-in-law's blog about being one of "THOSE" people in line, the ones you don't want to get stuck behind...well, because of that post, I am happy to report that I can now laugh at this experience instead of...well...cry, like I wanted to!
A wonderful willing friend of mine was watching Benson while I went with another friend for a belated Birthday lunch,(thanks again Shawn and Ainslie!) My goal was to be done with lunch and a few errands by 2:00 and then off to rescue Ainlsie. After visiting with some friends we bumped into at lunch I was running way behind schedule,(the only way I think I know how to run). I made a quick call and was grateful again to have such a willing, understanding friend. Okay I am getting to a point! So I was running like an insane person in and out of the isles of Winco. to get the must haves for our gingerbread making, baking and decorating that was to begin that afternoon with my mom and kiddos! After grabbing everything I needed I proceeded to wait my turn in line to check out. After waiting what seemed like forever for the ONE person in front of me I decided to meddle a little to see what the hold up was and found that the lady in front of me was red faced and frantically searching her purse for every last penny she could find to come up with the $1.50 she still owed! I felt terrible that I had not helped sooner and spared her some humiliation! I reached into my purse and found a $5 bill, this in itself is a miracle, I NEVER carry cash! I spotted her the change and anxiously piled about five bags worth of groceries onto the belt...stay with me, you'll love this part! So maybe you can imagine my embarrassment for being customer #2 to have an issue! Yep, I didn't have my wallet in my purse, due to the fact I took it out to pay fast offerings yesterday when the Deacon's came by!
SERIOUSLY,... but I really need those groceries, and I am down to only $3.50 cash, not even enough to get the ingredients I needed for the gingerbread dough,(that needed to be mixed and chilling about and hour prior...ahhhh!!)
Would $5 have been enough to get those precious ingredients,...maybe, but that is the lesson learned I suppose, to put others needs before your own! Thankfully they let me bag it up and set it aside so I could make ANOTHER trip to the other end of town AGAIN!
Oh the irony of it all! --Please tell me you all have had a similar experience,I would love to hear it!!
